How HSBC Life handles surrenders

Most requests use one form, but the right document depends on your exact plan. Read the form's own notes before you fill it in.

One form for most requests

The Request for Partial Withdrawal / Full Surrender & Policy Termination form, in HSBC Life's forms library.

Product-specific forms

Some plans have their own forms. It depends on whether yours is a traditional savings plan, an investment-linked plan or another type.

Policies from AXA

Older policies issued under AXA names are now serviced through HSBC Life's own channels.

Before you surrender

  • Read the form's warnings

The form sets out what to consider before proceeding. Read it before you sign.

  • Your latest value

Check your latest policy statement, or ask HSBC Life for a dated net figure.

  • Charges

Look for surrender or withdrawal charges, which come off the payout.

  • Part or all

The same form covers a partial withdrawal, which may give you enough cash and keep the policy going.

How to submit

  1. Open HSBC Life's forms library.
  2. Identify your exact product and download the current form for it.
  3. Read the notes before proceeding.
  4. Get your latest value and check any charges.
  5. Complete and sign the form, and supply the documents it asks for securely.
  6. Submit it through HSBC Life's official channel and keep the acknowledgement.
  7. Track the payout.

What to bring

Identification as the form asks. Some forms need a handwritten signature, and some ask for tax residency or extra identity documents.

How you are paid

HSBC Life's forms library does not publish a payout time. Ask when you submit.

HSBC Life questions

Where is the full surrender form?

In HSBC Life's forms library: the Request for Partial Withdrawal / Full Surrender & Policy Termination form, unless your plan has its own.

Is a legacy AXA policy treated differently?

It is serviced through HSBC Life's channels, though its product name may differ. Use HSBC Life's current form, not an old AXA one.

Can I withdraw part instead?

The same form covers partial withdrawals. Taking part of the value lowers future values but keeps the policy.

How do I get my current value?

From your latest policy statement, or ask HSBC Life for a dated net figure.

Does the form need a handwritten signature?

Some do. Check the form you download before you submit.

Can I sell an HSBC Life or AXA endowment instead?

Often, if it is a participating endowment or whole life policy paid in cash. Check yours and we tell you whether we would buy it.

You never need to give us your NRIC to read this guide or to reach HSBC Life's forms.
