Book if you can
Several insurers now see customers by appointment only, or prefer it.
Bring the basics
Your identity document, the policy number and, for some insurers and plans, the original policy document.
Ask for figures in writing
A dated net surrender value statement lets you compare your choices at home, without pressure.
Use the insurer's own numbers
Call only numbers from the insurer's own website. Scammers pose as insurer staff. Policy scams to know

Most insurers show surrender or cash values in their app or customer portal.
Send forms by post or email
Many accept signed forms by post, email or upload. Your insurer's guide says which.
Ask your representative
If you have a financial adviser or agent, they can get the forms and figures for you.
