The documents Singapore insurers usually ask for when you surrender a life policy. Your insurer's own form has the final list, so check it, then tick these off as you gather them.

For every surrender

Tick as you go. Nothing here is saved or sent. For the whole process insurer by insurer, use the surrender planner.

Only in some cases

These depend on the insurer, the plan and who is involved.

A lost policy indemnityIf the insurer needs the original and you have lost it. Tokio Marine Life has its own form.
A handwritten signatureSome HSBC Life forms need one rather than an electronic signature.

Every joint owner's signatureWhere the policy is jointly owned.

Document questions

What documents do I need to surrender a policy?

Usually the insurer's form, identification, bank proof and the policy number. Some insurers also want the original policy or other consents, as listed above.

I have lost my policy document. Can I still surrender?

Usually, yes. Insurers that need the original have a lost policy declaration or indemnity form instead.

Do I need my financial adviser?

No. Insurers accept requests through their own channels, though an adviser can help you fill in the form.

Are the documents for a sale the same?

Similar, but a sale uses an assignment form instead of a surrender form. Assignment forms by insurer
