Absolute assignment forms by insurer

Each insurer has its own form or process for transferring a policy to a new owner. When you accept our offer, we give you the current one for your insurer with our part filled in. Here is where each insurer keeps its forms, and what they usually ask for.

Where each insurer keeps its forms

The assignment form may sit under policy servicing or change of ownership, or be available only on request. Always use the insurer's current version.

What an assignment form usually asks for

Field names differ by insurer. This is the usual shape.

Your identity number goes on the insurer's form itself. We never ask for it by web form or WhatsApp.

How we handle the form with you

Nothing is signed until you have read and accepted our written offer.

  1. You accept our written offer

It names the price and every condition.

  2. We give you your insurer's current form

With our company details filled in, so you can check them against the offer.

  3. You check every field and sign

    No blanks.

  4. The form goes to your insurer

With any documents it needs, such as the original policy for some plans.

  5. Your insurer records us, and we pay you

Into an account in your own name. What happens after you sell

Before you sign any assignment form

  • Never sign it blank

Every field, including the new owner and the price, should be filled in first.

  • Check the new owner's name

It must match the name on your written offer exactly.

  • Use the insurer's own form

Not a form someone has made up or edited.

  • Keep a copy

Of the form and everything sent with it.

Form questions

Can I download the form myself?

Yes, from your insurer's page or customer service. Forms change, so we always supply the current version when you accept an offer.

Does the form need a witness?

Some insurers ask for one. The form itself says, and we tell you before you sign.

I have lost my original policy document. Can I still sell?

Usually, yes. Some insurers ask for a declaration of loss instead. Ask your insurer what it needs.

Is the insurer's form the only way to assign a policy?

A separate deed can also be used in some cases. Either way, the insurer must receive written notice. Absolute assignment explained
